Thinking Curling Yet?!

So do you know who this is? It's Ryan Fry, formally of Team Gushue. But not any more, Fry is moving to Sault Ste Marie where he will be playing for Brad Jacobs. Yep, that's right folks....one of several cabinet shuffles happening this coming season. Word is, Fry is going to play in the third position, EJ Harnden will play second and Ryan Harnden will take over the lead position.

There's other changes too. Looks like Gushue has picked up Brett Gallant (PEI) and is continuing on with the other two players that were with him last year.

And Mark Nichols? Coming out of retirement and already moved to Winnipeg where he will join Jeff Stoughton.

Jennifer Jones? Out for a part of the season following knee surgery....AND, to give birth! Yep, that's right. JJ is having a baby with none other than Brent Laing. Word is, Kaitlyn Lawes will take the helm while her kipper is out.

Amber Holland has a new squad as well.

And there are changes at the BRCC as well. There are improvements such as the roof getting fixed (thanks to a Trillium Grant). Also, there will be repairs in the plant room and also, the dance floor in the club is getting fixed. Awesome!!

Registration is Wednesday, September 5 so please get your name / team in there.

There will be a new league this year, on Wednesdays called the Open 8-Ender. It is a "Choose Your Own Team league. In other words, there can be all men, all women, mixed or ANY combination of men and women players eligible to play as a team in this league. Some of you may think that this is going to be a competitive league. Well, that is NOT what it is designed for. It is simply to give members options so that they can curl whenever they want. And who knows, maybe there will be a couple of competitive teams in there. That's OK..it gives players a chance to have good games and step up their game. Nothing wrong with growing the game! Check it out...it sounds like fun. Got questions about it?  Call Al Viel or Kristy Blanchet.

Monday night is Mixed Night. Two draws...early and late.

Clean Up day is Saturday, September 8. Please come out and help out. Last year, we did not have very many volunteers show up and with so much to be done, it made it hard on the few that did! please come and help...you know how important this is for the club. And hey, it is an excellent way to get your volunteer hours over with early.

Got friends. We need em! Talk to your pals about curling. Get them out to try out the Roaring Game. The club always needs new members and the BRCC needs you to be its advocate. It's good for the club and good for the sport in general!

Stay tuned...I'll make a post once a week for now up until the season starts and after that, I'll be back to normal, reporting on all the leagues.

Rock On!
